Kookmin University's (KMU) School of Software and School of Electric Engineering were chosen by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea (ABEEK) as the best curriculum run by a university, reflecting industrial demand in the 2021 Evaluation of University Education on the Perspective of Industry.

The ABEEK conducted their evaluation with the support of the MOE, intending to improve and operate the university curriculum to foster manpower that meets industrial demand. Evaluation of University Education on the Perspective of Industry assesses university departments' performance in three areas: industry-based curriculum design, curriculum operation, and curriculum operation performance.

KMU's School of Software specializes in five major tracks —big data·machine learning, media·entertainment, IoT convergence, web·information protection, and enterprise SW —with the motivation of being chosen as a software-oriented university in 2016. To effectively educate students on the necessary technologies required by the industry, a new pragmatic model of software education full of realism is presented by domestic and foreign industry experts actively participating in curricular and extracurricular activities. Furthermore, it offers students the highest level of industry field training in Korea and overseas university training.

The School of Electric Engineering's Energy Electronics Convergence (Intelligent Electrical Engineering Major) received the "Grand Award" rating in 2021 followed by the "Grand Award" evaluation in 2017. Majors specialized in Electronics Convergence Engineering, Electronics & Information System Engineering, and Energy Electronics Convergence (specifically Intelligent Electrical Engineering) have been run based on the ABEEK since 2017 in a bid to foster experts in the electronics industry who will lead the fourth industrial revolution.

Electronics Convergence Engineering, which received the highest rating this year, will be reorganized into a "Semiconductor and Electronics Major," beginning in 2022, with a specialized curriculum aimed at fostering talent in the high-tech "next-generation (intelligent) semiconductor and display" field to lead the changing future.

"By implementing a practical curriculum, KMU's School of Software and School of Electric Engineering fully support students in gaining field experience and focusing on employment," a KMU official said. "We will continue to study innovative education curriculum to ensure competitiveness."
